What is this confirmation bias argument about
:afrokappa:
You could say that confirmation biases are the tools I uses to verify the stage of my politicization, since I always keep sources around me that are challenging my vision toward something counterintuitive and if I keep having confirmated informations, I'll consider - over time - that I need to find new sources that will challenge me more.

With always one mantra in mind : Think beyond.
bruh thats literally antithetical to confirmation bias.
[unnecessary wall of text]

@Roo if Bibi and Trump actually egged the King of Morocco to do that "pretty much invasion in all but name" in Ceuta Melilla then that's actually the most strategically smart thing they did

But it's most likely just a conspiracy theory

But everything went on quite smoothly, notwithstanding the many blunders still committed by practical people. These slaves who were reputed improvident, selfish brutes, and so on, displayed such good sense, such an organizing capacity as to surpass the expectations of even the most unpractical Utopists; and in three years after the Emancipation the general physiognomy of the villages had completely changed. The slaves were becoming Men!

The Utopists won the battle. They proved that they were the really practical people, and that those who pretended to be practical were imbeciles. And the only regret expressed now by all who know the Russian peasantry is, that too many concessions were made to those practical imbeciles and narrow-minded egotists: that the advice of the left wing of the unpractical camp was not followed in full.

- Kropotkin

"An old quarrel, that quarrel between the "practical men" and the "unpractical," the so-called Utopists: a quarrel renewed at each proposed change, and always terminating by the total defeat of those who name themselves practical people."

It's really incredible when you think about it from my point of view, that trick capitalism played on languages and populations.

- It transformed the vision of an amazing philosophy : materialism, into a bad consumerist practice
- It stripped away the philosophical attribute of idealism and transform the word into a romantic idea about impossible challenges
And to finish the trick
- It pushed all that was actually politically materialist into the category of idealism. By creating the idea that a materialistic vision of the world is fundamentally utopic and.. therefore "idealist".

Now, as a socialists you can't talk about politics, without having actual idealists telling you that you that you are "not rational" and "idealist" for following basic materialist and scientific notions that can only lead toward the creation of an anticapitalist society...

What a sneaky trick.

Capitalism as a serious idea is so irelevant that it's ridiculous

Economic system that has shown to fail time and time again.

I guess there’s some thing I do find efficient and useful from socialism, but the system as a whole is just not good. And when turned into an ideology it attracts the worst type of people
Are you only familiar with the USSR and China type stuff?

Oh yeah confirmation bias is just reading sources or “tools” that reinforce what you already believe lol

maybe it’s a thing lost in translation for him? Logiko is French
No, it's simply the fact of being renforced into a position by sources I know will reenforce it.. The interesting thing happens only when said sources won't reenforce it. And confirmation biases applied I'll tend to trust them, therefore creating a cycle of politicization. It's not really that complicated.

Do you consider that socialism has failed more than capitalism?

Considering my degree in economics you tell me
That's awesome but idk

Idk what they teach in a degree in economics, socialism isn't really hard economics is it?

I'm more so asking if you know about the libertarian socialists, as in anarchists, too

I think this is more about historical knowledge than economics, what economics does socialism even have?

It's basically just abolish the stockholder role and make the workers own the workplace isn't it?

You could study USSR or china economics but that's state capitalism

USSR was as socialist as it will ever get. You’re falling for the “no true Scotsman” fallacy

Socialism is an economic system, do you think it’s an ideology?
