Mihawk couldn't pass Crocodile while he could pass Daz Bones easily. Against the swordsmen who can cut steel, Daz Bones was a fodder, but Croco was different level.

Another interesting detail is that Crocodile send Buggy flying while attacking Jozu, Luffy used Buggy vs Mihawk because of Crocodile's attack, almost like Oda putting these 3 together on purpose even before PreTS
Meanwhile DFless Shiryu was equal to Magellan who was portrayed superior to Crocodile, and Aokiji (another BB pirate) defeats Jozu, another interesting detail to show superiority over Croco and Mihawk, however that's a different topic.
Law also specifically puts Croco and Mihawk in a same group, doesn't use "even" for Mihawk to separate him while Big mom separated Whitebeard from Kaido and Shanks:
Croco being close to Mihawk is also because Oda always gives same level opponents to Zolo and Sanji;

Just like Mihawk has past with Zolo, Sanji has "Mr.Prince" connection past with Crocodile.
How much upgrade Crocodile would need to be on Mihawk's level?
-DF upgrade?
-Or Croco's fight IQ intelligence will give him an advantage?
-Or will they fight on desert territory which will boost Croco's power
-Will Croco get Haki upgrade?
-Will Croco's "secret" that Ivankov mentioned play any parts in this?
-Will Croco+Daz fight Sanji in 2 vs 1? (low chance)
