The thing about Sulong Wepo sneak is it was done after Blackbeard was done fighting Walfalgar Waw, whom Oda respects very much and is solidly a low top tier fighter by any relevant measure (DF, haki)
Yup Blackbeard is careless no doubt. But Imu getting sent flying by Hajrudin is like Goofy getting blitzed by Usopp. And then getting his counterattack blocked. It's genuinely disrespect of the highest caliber

I think Imu isn't bad when it comes to writing. I enjoy how Imu constantly has that "holier than thou" attitude towards his opponents, like when he expressed that Harald's death affected him the most in front of Harald's own son lol. But as well written Imu is, it does leave massive disappointment when Oda throws all this characterisation away just because some characters can shine for a bit... when it doesn't even make sense.
I criticized dying old Gaban forcing Imu to use his 2nd transformation but it was bearable atp. It also makes sense considering Gaban put his all into this one attack and lost an arm in result. It doesn't mean much that he was standing up again, when Gaban clearly intented to sacrifice himself.
Things got messy when Hajrudin joins the battle, punches 2nd form Imu, stronger than the one beating the shit out of Luffy, Loki and Gaban, to the Adam Tree and take an Omen explosion from said Imu as well.

Chapter so bad, people ain't even looking at Luffy recovering almost instantly after wating food. Earlier he used to be gone for a solid while to recover even after eating food. Now it's nearly light speed recovery lmao.

Even that was explained! Luffy went on a physical training in Udon prison and he received Lv. 3 CoA. That was the same PU like Rayleigh before ACoC was introduced.
So yes, it makes sense that Luffy could take attacks like TB way better now.
Same with Ragnarok which koed Luffy before but after coating his attacks and body with CoC, he even started to take these better.
Yet here, Oda isn't even trying anymore. The asspull isn't even about the strawhats btw.

Honestly though, shouldn't imu be kinda shit? This is like his first time interacting with characters physically in like 800+ years.
I think he is going to look weaker and weaker as Luffy figures his shit out or imu is going to be like Luffy and his battle IQ will make him highly adaptable to Luffy a progression. I don't view there being much inbetween that.
Imu is the ceiling of presence and power in a sense, it is up to how he deals with Luffy "levelling up" mid fight. In that regard I think imu has reached his own peak and Luffy just needs fo surpass that, which he always fukn does
