p.s.
In scenario he gets defeated in Mariejois right after he is forcefully teleported from Elbaf will also mean he falls in Elbaf arc.

I genuinely thought the Chadmirals were going to save One Piece after Wano. 💀
Wano was alive as hell. Spoiler threads were casually hitting 800 to 1,100 pages. Then we got Egghead... and Elbaf somehow managed to completely kill the forum. 😭
And the funniest part? We’re literally watching what might be the final villain of the entire series throw hands right now. LMAO.
The Chadmirals were supposed to save the post-Wano era, but instead the forum died before they could even clock in. 💀
Imagine telling someone during Wano that we’d eventually reach the final saga, have the possible final boss fighting, world-shaking lore drops happening, and the spoiler threads would be this dead.
Wano really was the last breath of the agenda. 😭

I think he won't fall here
It is unusual for a villain to fall before his strongest subordinates
The Gorosei must fall before or almost same time as Imu.
And even though I have been big on BB as FV agenda even I didn't think Imu would show off so much here. When a villain shows off so much they are most likely getting defeated in that arc/saga.
The most likely scenario is that Sommers and KHam get defeated, Imus gets shocked and weakened and runs out of time. As a parting gift he manages to turn Loki (shouldn't happen since it already failed l but maybe the hybrid and awakening are being saved for this) or some other catastrophe happens to engage Luffy and Loki.
The SHs are not going back to MG, they are going to move forward to LT and Imu and the relevant Gorosei must fight SHs at this new location after Elbaf.
I can't also see BB becoming King in place of Imu before finding OP or maybe he does and then to save the world the OP is required.
Nasujuro being a Zoro fight is pretty much certain unless BBPs defeat them first and Shitty takes Shodai Kitetsu. As much as Oda fumbled in Wank with Zoro plotlines I don't believe he would leave the Kitetsu connection unresolved.

I don't see the point in making him fall later. He is going all out already and non prime characters are keeping up with him.

In fact without his regen( which is a good hax but once a counter is found it's going to be treated like logia powers or Domi Reversi), he would have lost to Gaban.

Also unless he is defeated now, what stops him from coming back in Elbaf once the SHs are gone?

He can when Imu is distracted/when he isnt actively controlling him.
World government remains the strongest organisation in the world, with or without Imu.
Garling wants the throne for himself, most likely and thus he would off Imu at first chance he gets.
He will likely do what Doffy wanted to do - make use of national treasure.

A few things:

1) Imu being repelled from Elbaph only to persist anyway further goes to establish his character: Imu is not some all powerful overlord that rules over the OP world with an iron fist, he is a shadowy entity that persists in spite of largely failing to complete his own world. Imu is a character who wants to rule over the world completely, but has persistently failed to solidify his rule. Imu rules by virtue of the fact that nobody can kill him and not much else.

2) what stops Imu from coming back to Elbaph is 1) the fact that he has other objectives right now aside from just Elbaph, and 2) this arc is establishing Loki and Hajrudin (and maybe others) as the ones who are protecting Elbaph from Imu. Once this arc is completed that will be much more clear.
