Also this is barely a pirate manga atp, Rocks getting a hammer for weapon diversity isn't unrealistic....plus might have even tied to Loki wielding a hammer as his weapon of choice (idolising Rocks)

literally the only one in that list who's sword style isn't focused on is rayleigh, but it seems that he fights fairly similar to zoro especially given that he's meant to be his roger pirates counterpart
roger and shanks share the exact same style, rocks has a more heavy one focused on raw power than cutting

Because a Meito is stronger than a hammer, unless that Hammer is also of some special quality and it's more versatile, because Xebec can both cut, send shockwaves, mimic hammer strikes, etc. It's just a swifter and more handy weapon. It's a pirate's standard weapon of choice.

At the same time we saw Xebec use a gun, use axes and do boxing matches.
