General & Others So are we all in alignment that Luffy isn’t wrap to swords?

So Imu has taught us that not only does Luffy not have a weakness to swords, but he resists them more than most characters. I’m not trying to be funny here, but what other character has been stabbed straight through their body by the strongest character in the show and got back up to fight?

Sure his fruit has something to do with it but his fruit is part of him. Clearly the only thing that Luffy is actually weak training because he refuses to train to master his fruit. He’s made of rubber but resists fire. He has resistance to poison, immune to blunt force damage without haki, etc. Luffy is a monster and that’s why Oda nerfs him with time limits and personality flaws like being goofy.

Luffy can’t risk losing G5 right now is because if he does, the wounds from the swords will return
And what does that even mean? If the sword pierces are there in base form, does that mean Luffy needs to maintain G5 until he naturally heals, meaning potentially entire months? Or does he eat again in G5 and he's miraculously healed when he transforms back in base?
Mind you, I'm not asking you to explain it, Yas, I'm just baffled by where Oda is going with this.

I think it means the sword wounds will return once he returns to base. And he’ll have to hear them naturally at that point. Basically G5 works similarly to mink medicine. It fully heals him temporarily but once it runs out the wounds and damage return at full force

Also I don't think G5 is meant to heal all wounds, Luffy was still very weakened post-ressurrection against Kaido.

Likely he meant the first thing because his lesser forms could not even thank that level of damage.

G5 is like a steroid as long as it's active. Luffy keeps forcing his heart to beat and it keeps him going.

That's why he can't lose G5 as then he'll be incapacitated with the damage he's taken.

It's not that G5 is weaker to swords than anyone else. It's that G5 has extremely high resistance to blunt damage so if you want to beat it, you need to use something other than blunt damage, such as slashing and piercing attacks.

People still don't understand weakness. Luffy by his df has a natural defense to all physical attacks except cutting attacks making them his natural weakness and it's been called his weakness in manga. G5 has the ability to force luffy to be at 100% despite how damaged his body actually is. As long as luffys heart is pumping strong in g5 his injuries aren't going to effect him.

Not having residence doesn’t mean your weak to something. Being weak to means you’d take more damage than a normal character form said attack.

What other character is taking the attacks Luffy just took?

Actually he was spared, plot babysat him a lot.
It resorted to stabs, 2 of them, conveniently missing his heart. Stabs do less damage than slashes which is Luffy's main weakness.
Rubber naturally develops a weak point where slashed. Oda just doesn't put him in such a bad position.
Yeah, Luffy missed out on total death because of Gaban's arrival. Surely it's an impressive feat, but it's only the natural evolution of him and Katakuri fighting for hours after getting pierced.

The manga says it's his weakness it's self. G5 has a magic df ability that ignores damage to Luffy’s body to keep letting him fight at 100%. G5 luffy isn't normal luffy which is why he doesn'twant g5 to run out as he'dno longer be ableto fight. The weakness comes from the buff his df gives him. Just like if a df gave someone a wood based power fire would would be that characters weakness. This isn't Pokémon where you take critical damage for hitting a weakness. This is op where your weakness just means characters can damage you through using it. Luffy has unnaturally high resistance to all physical types of damage but cutting attacks. Since he doesn't have that if you are to fight luffy cutting attacks are his weakness as that's where he's damaged the easiest.

🧐
Luffy is weak to slashing attacks in the way that he takes more damage from them when he's not actively defending compared to blunt attacks.
G5 is still Luffy. If this is your logic then you might is well say Jozu is weak to slashes and if it wasn’t for his magical devil fruit that ignores slashing attacks Mihawk would have murdered him. But we don’t say that because it’s Jozus ability. We can’t pick and choose.

Kaido is just saying that slashes are the only way to really hurt Luffy because he has no resistance to it, that is the same for 99% of the one piece verse. But for some reason we aren’t running around saying Xebec is weak to swords.

Also Luffy’s fruit clearly is now giving him some resistance to swords whether is temporary or not doesn’t change much.

Lol I remember how upset they got in the other thread. "Garp is just as vulnerable fuck u 😭"

Gear 5 puts his recovery and durability on a different level. Yes, to the extent that he can withstand stabs better (even though he did quite well even back in Alabasta). But it's still proportionate to his resistances.
