Character Discussion The wings of the pirates is a limiting concept for zoro and sanji.

I absolutely believe that zoro being equal to sanji doesn't make sense if sanji has coc infusion just like zoro. Sanji should be above him if that's the case. Likewise, sanji being equal or stronger than zoro is detrimental to zoro's character. Story wise it shouldn't be. Raleigh and Gaban being equals or close to is okay because there's no context about their dreams and aspirations prior to becoming pirates.
In the case of Zoro and Sanji things are different. Zoro is pursuing a goal tied to strengh. He wants to obtain a title that will put him in a category of relevance that very few people in the show can compare to. For instance, pirate king is a title, world strongest man is a title, world strongest creature is a title, world strongest swordsman is a title, etc... These titles are something given to characters that are a level beyond their sobriquet such as dark king, mountain eater, black leg, etc... They are a status displaying a level of importance and achievement in the world of one piece supposed to separate those who have them from the rest.
Now Sanji's goal is not to get a title just like Gaban and his strength should be of or above Gaban's. The issue here is that being locked in the "wings " system means is growth will always be limited by zoro's and it's a shame because by all logic if he were to unlock king's haki then that should give him the edge over zoro. And for zoro, the limitation of being a "wing" means that no matter what he has to be relative to sanji whereas his title should put him in a category of legends such as Ryuma ( who has been associated with joy boy) and thus in a level of strength different from Raleigh, Gaban and Sanji EOS.

Wings doesn't introduce something new- it just established and confirmed what the story has always been but people refused to accept. Rayleigh and Gaban showcase same thing.​

Wings of the pirate king has a different meaning for me. What do wings do? They carry. It means the wings of PK are the two power houses that protect Luffy. While Oda has done a bad job in the past showing that, it should become obvious in the end, both will take care of threats that would kill PK.

Sanji having aCoC is not a problem, it is a must power for the highest echelon of power but it is shared by quite many, which are all more or less equal. Even WSC and WSM were portrayed as equals with those without world's strongest titles.

That's why Zoro's future title is the only thing that matters, he will be equal to no one. Once the story is finished, Zoro should be Oda's strongest creation. As Sabaody arrival order says, Zoro is #1, Sanji is #7 and Luffy is #9.

Wings only mean to show that zoro and sanji are monsters that help carry luffy the most out of the crew. Imo the yonko had wings just like luffy and Roger but their wings weren't nearly as important or strong as the roger pirates or sh's. Wings don't mean equals but showing they have the most important role for the captain. Without either zoro or sanji luffy can't go a far. Both are practically irreplaceable and nobody could refill the roles they have on the crew. Imo the wing title serves to elevate zoro and sanji because they raise with luffy. Wing are on par with thier captain and serve as the main pillars for them.

Wings doesn’t diminish them they have been narratively comparable all series, one will have something they are better than the other. Oda almost stubbornly makes it clear how close they are and it never shifts whether we like it or not, they are a duo and this is long before a “wing” title, long before knowing about Rayleigh or a Scopper existing. Zoro has to work hard and constantly train, Sanji has more natural talents and genetics, they meet somewhere in the middle.

Sanjino was stronger than ZoLo since he awakened his genetic enhancements.

That's why he destroyed his Raid Suit, he knew ZoLo wouldn't be able to stop him if still had it and become evil.

Once upon a time Luffy and zoro were relative forming the first duo of the crew and then it ceased to be in wano with Luffy huge power up. It's not because something has been portrayed since the beginning that it has to remain the same. Likewise, based on the trajectory of their dreams, development and importance in the story, zoro should start to distance himself from sanji strength wise.
because he will be the wss maybe even sword god like ryuma but it's clearly not going that way. As of today, I can legitimately argue for sanji being over zoro and I'd be happy to.

With the germa genes kicking in and the raid suit I thought oda wanted sanji to follow his own path but at the end of the day, he'll be like everyone else => haki development, no edge over the others, the genes not being a factor anymore
