What I said is that we were given hints about Imu and then shadow IMU after about 600 chapters of the story. Akainu and Yonko were established very early and I had always been looking forward to dealing with them. The whole WG regen merchants squad started to be a thing so much later in the story.

Kaido was already mentioned as being active at Marineford, when Shanks fought him to stop him from coming, the Marines spoke of him as a character rooted in the universe

Ability wise, jack of all trades, master of none.
Crocodile and Enel were far better villains.

His placement in the story is odd. Shanks, BB, Dragon, Ancient Weapons haven't been explored properly. If he keeps being the final boss of this arc, the chance of him being the final villain just plummeted imo. Makes me wonder a bit who the final villain will really be

Fascinating character so far with much more to give, every chapter he’s been in has been interesting whether its because of some kind of lore drop or some unique ability he showcases, awesome designs too. Perfect final villain setup and display, we’re just getting started.

If Imu is defeated in Elbaph, I'll jump from joy! It would make OP so much more interesting for me.
I mean, imagine the possibilities....
The race for OP is still on.
The regen hax is likely to die with Imu, so the stakes are back.
The MJ crowd will have to choose a new leader - and if Imu's powers grant immortality, then it's likely that only Garling and maybe Ju Peter are still going to be alive because I believe Gorosei live on the borrowed time. But even if they don't, and all of them are alive, that's going to be a juicy discussion between them, not that they're stripped of the powers, but still kinda rule, because Imu is a secret to the rest.
It also will make MJ fall to Revos more believable, because Revos are a weird group, but they do have enough power to fight Holy Roppo once those pricks lose their regen
