Questions & Mysteries Kaido didn't actually want to die and was not a honorable man in any sense of the word.

[s1hukla]

If he really wanted to die why he didn't want to rematch Oden in a fair fight ? He also didn't kept his promise to him after he stood for 1 hour in boiling oil. Him being sad for not beating Luffy in a fair fight is also bullshit when you think about it.

[Senfret]

Maybe Yamato's mom was someone important to him and he just wanted to reunite with her... It wouldn't fit Kaido but could have been a good addition to his character

[Awakening_coming]

Everything about Kaidos character is bullshit

Kaido has no wife. He was gay. He made Yamato through osmosis

he was a hypocritical drunk who lied to himself a lot and thats why he was a good character

[Djordje]

Dude not only is Kaido a powercliffed bum but every thing he said / was told about him proved to be false nonsense.

That's not what osmosis means, but fair enough.

[Desolate Smaug]

Kaido is just a scumbag tbh. He is like an unstoppable version of Arlong. He'll try to hide behind ideals and morals but he just doesn't have any depth. BM is kinda played up as meme but she's actually a more naunced character.

As you can see in this panel, Oden didn't escape from prison simply because he didn't want to. Kaidou left him there with his swords, and even allowed his wife to visit him without confiscating his weapons. All Oden had to do was cut the whole place apart and walk out.

Spoiler: 1º

He also didn't kept his promise to him after he stood for 1 hour in boiling oil.

All you have to do is read the manga properly, word for word. Oden's body was already dead. Kaidou simply did him a favor by killing him. Otherwise, Oden would've suffered a slow and agonizing death.

Spoiler: 2º

Him being sad for not beating Luffy in a fair fight is also bullshit when you think about it.

Why? Imagine fighting and fighting against someone, having fun the whole time, only for someone to rob you of the chance to finish the fight yourself. That would be frustrating for anyone, especially when you knew you were 100% going to win.
