everyone unlocked / used CoC in desperate situations ( ace & doffy when they were kids , luffy etc ) Zoro and Sanji fought top tiers and were in desperate situations so many times they should've already shown signs of it long before even Wano, Oda just decided to do this too late and we have to deal with the fact that it doesn't make much sense but it's what we get and that's about it

Oda is making shit up as plot progresses.

This entire self love plot would fit the context of WCI the best.

Vinsmokes treatment of Sanji + Sanji sacrificing himself and Pudding betrayal + SHs coming to WCI to save Sanji

Iva flashback at that time to help him overcome his weakness and unlock CoC or even FS would fit so well

But nah...he gave us Raid suit just to ditch it next arc.

And, now after 3 arcs he's bringing self love but didn't care to connect it with Vinsmokes lmao

I’ve felt similarly about some other plot points in the past. When I actually read it I often change my mind. I think it was pretty decent.

On a serious note, though: the spoilers do not mean that Vergo wouldn't have been able to break Sanji's leg if Sanji had loved himself. They only mean that, in that case, Sanji wouldn't have gone for a head-on approach, risking his leg for nothing, but would've found a different way to fight Vergo.

How about letting the reader connect the dots, since its obvious the lack of self-love comes from the time his own family devalued him and left a psychological scar.

But it seems Oda needs to state the obvious to the readers now.
