Ok. So sanji has this extreme character flaw revelead which did not prompt a single moment that is differentiable from caring about his friends.
You understand this is the DEFINITION of narrative fluff? Stating, but not showing.

Because you're separating the two. Those moments where he showed care also included this flaw. It's Oda adding another layer to those moments. Which is consistent with Sanji's character, entirely defensible. It doesn't stray from what we know or what many have observed even years prior to this chapter. It can't be fluff because it's resulting in character exploration and development.

No, the change is that he won't belittle his own existence anymore. The reward for that development is the manifestation of his dominating will, unrestricted by any feeling of deficiency.

I don't mind Sanji getting CoC if that's what Oda wants as I have said before. But is anyone else annoyed at just how little planning and effort Oda puts into his reveals and character development nowadays, especially relating to powerups?

Too much of it is spontaneous, just like Zoro all of a suddenly getting coc in Wano. Now Sanji too in Elbaph, I said before that Oda is likely to make this mistake and lol and behold it happens, when a character needs CoC, just give it to them no buildup and development needed. At least Kidd had the excuse of being a side character, but now CoC just feels like CoA, when a character needs it to fight a holy knight, Oda will just conveniently give it to them when needed, it's really starting to get predictable and stale at this point, imo.

Before Wano, every character that showed to unlock CoC, such as Luffy, Ace or Doffy, did it under extreme and desperate circumstances, and then Oda just skipped that for Zoros, while also ruining the surprise for Sanji by literally have gaban tell him what he needs to unlock it lol.

Not one panel in the Sanji's flashbacks is shown as him about him being a Vinsmoke. He even says he didn't mean to devalue himself in any of the scenarios. Not one dialogue saying I am better dead because of my lineage.
