On the cover page, Lilith and Edison are sparring against a mother and child kangaroo! And it's a tough looking kangaroo, too! Flaming tattoos all over her body like she's in the yakuza or something! And yes, only female kangaroos have pouches, so despite the rough exterior, this would be a girl! BUT WHAT COULD IT MEAN?! Well...all the "no science allowed" signs in the gym MIGHT be symbolic of how the Strawhats themselves need to buckle down and train their Haki? As for the kangaroo...well, according to a SBS, if the characters where living in the real world there IS a character who would be from Australia. Bonney! So...maybe this represents that Bonney will fight with Lilith? Which I could actually see happen, at least briefly, if it turns out Lilith can't bring Kuma all the way back. Bonney may throw a bit of a fit and have Kuma attack the Vegapunks. But, we'll see.
Awww...Sanji managed to push down his repressed memories. That means this is going to get dragged out a little longer, isn't it? You're only delaying the inevitable, Sanji!
"You cooks really value your hands, right?" ...How does Killingham know that? Has he actually deemed to "lower" himself enough to actually TALK to another cook, before?
...And then Killingham seems to start talking to Longinus. Given that these are magical legendary swords, it's not impossible that they actually have distinct personalities and could talk back. Chances are it's just a quirk to get some exposition out. But, I'm still going to highlight this, in case it comes up again, in the future.
And then Killingham manages to manifest Sanji's worst Nightmare...IVANKOV! We're doing this! It's not quite the Kamabakka-Sanji that some people predicted, but it's pretty close! Although, it's worth noting that Sanji doesn't fall asleep due to Killingham's attack. So, he's not QUITE able to shrug the Devil Fruit's effect off with Haki...but he IS shown to be slightly resistant to it. I think this shows he's...halfway there, maybe.
Sanji is actually a little surprised that it's Ivankov and not his dad. And fair enough, I guess. I guess Sanji has plenty of trauma to go around.
And then Killingham and Nightmare-Ivankov basically do the fusion dance and become...Ivan-Kirin! They don't call it that, but that's what it is! I guess Oda REALLY liked the idea of Ivankov getting Kaido's Dragon Fruit and wanted to show us something pretty similar in the actual manga.
"Nothing is worth less...than the love of someone with a death wish!" Harsh...but maybe fair enough? Like they say, if you don't love yourself, you can't really love others.
The sight of Killingham's horse-legs in fishnets is...something. I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me.
FLASHBACK TIME! Oh, black borders, we keep seeing you more and more often, recently.
Apparently, Sanji kept trying to tank attacks on Kamabakka. Showing that what Sanji lacks is...SELF LOVE! Oh...the jokes that are and will be coming. One good night with a magazine should fix him right up. Ivankov even says the whole "one who does not love himself cannot love another" thing.
Apparently, Sanji's "sense of love is covered is scars". Which is a pretty cool line, not gonna lie. He should use that, when he's trying to pick up women.
Ivankov ALSO has a man who's worth sacrificing for! And...I'm assuming that's Dragon? Unless Ivankov has someone special we don't know about. It certainly wasn't Kuma.
So, all Sanji has to do is tighten his defenses a little! I guess Sanji's the shield and Zoro's the sword, for Luffy. Kind of fitting, given what we've seen of Nika's own "weapons".
And now that Sanji's healed his own emotional scars...Nightmare-Ivankov just vanishes! This was the quickest (and least expensive) therapy session, ever! Huh. So, I guess this confirms that if someone STOPS being afraid of their Nightmare, it just goes away. So, some of those Giant Kids just needed to stop being afraid of Loki and their mother, and they would have disappeared, too.
And now it's time for Sanji to get serious! And his eyebrows are staying unflipped. That's probably a sign of growth for him.
AND...there's another break next "veek". Heh. Okay, I appreciate the pun. That helps soften the blow a little.
