Sanji and Kizaru have always had some similarities superficial or not: both heavily emphasize speed, have a yellow color scheme, and frequently use their legs in combat (though Kizaru is clearly the more versatile fighter overall)
However, with Aramaki's introduction, his personality and especially his dynamic with Fujitora, Greenbull arguably became Sanji's most likely Admiral matchup in the fandom mind.
Still, the last two arcs in particular have made me think Kizaru is very much still on the table, given how much more similar the two have become in certain aspects.
1. Defense
Kizaru kicked off Egghead by fighting Sentomaru, with an emphasis on his defensive capabilities.
Later he casually blocked a barrage of Luffy's attacks, showcasing his defense in full.
And by the end of the arc even after taking multiple hits from Luffy he still looked practically unscathed further highlighting just how good his defense is.
As for Sanji.
“Love is defense” and “I will become the shield” are the culmination of his character arc as he comes to accept himself and his role.
2. Visual portrayal
While Sanji is already a great stylistic fit for a Kizaru matchup and mirrors him in many ways, what's particularly interesting is how his flames have increasingly started to resemble “light” in his fight against Killingham.
And in the latest chapter 1197 this resemblance arguably reached its peak after Sanji powered up his flames, making them brighter and purer than ever before.
Which only strengthens and arguably takes the stylistic connection between Kizaru and Sanji to a whole new level.
3. Their clash and Sanji's "counter"
Their recent clash alone could serve as setup for a future fight but what's particularly interesting is that Sanji managed to do the supposedly “impossible” and block a laser.
The fact that this isn't just a strength feat but something unique and still unexplained makes it an especially interesting piece of setup for their eventual matchup.
To sum it up, considering what's been going on with Sanji and Kizaru over the last two arcs and especially with Sanji in the latest chapters, I think this matchup has gained a lot of new ground and is worth reconsidering.
