yeah yeah. barrier, emission, whatever.
the thing hyogoro taught luffy in Udon.
Yes, and the thing he taught Luffy has a visual sign to it. This barrier effect appears to have been retconned from a basic feature to an advanced one later on, going by Luffy's comments in Wano.

The most basic Armament is still a barrier, it's just not extended.

also, the whole "observation killing" so far is a movie promotion material thing.
I would NOT treat it as canon whatsoever for now.
lol
It's probably real though. Observation Killing seems like it would make perfect sense as to how Rocks managed to confront Imu, or Blackbeard scarring Shanks, who in his own words did not have his guard down.

We know Shanks learned Divine Departure at 15, meaning he mastered aCoC at that age. He is 1 of 4 confirmed users of aCoC and Future Sight.

For Blackbeard to catch him when he wasn't being careless suggests Blackbeard probably has it too.

I see all the discussions about haki in forums, reddit etc making it super complicated when this shit is one of the easiest and simple power system in manga.

Armament? Yeah you can defend and attack with it.
Observation? Yeah you can use it like a sixth sense for incoming attacks, sensing presences and in some cases even see the future for a bit
Conqueror? Yeah you can use to make other faint, to defend and attack with more success than armament and in some cases you can disrupt observation haki of someone else.

I still see people calling ryou as Advanced armament haki when it is just the term armament haki for wano people like mantra is observation for skypea :whitepress:

The left eyebrow looks like the swirl is in the middle too? If that is so he might have “reached harmony” by reconciling with his germa side

If the eyebrows weren’t an indicator for exoskeleton on/off then it all makes no sense, either sbs clarifies or we will see later if the exoskeleton is still a thing even with the right eyebrow in “normal” mode

Unless I see Shanks's flaming sword in the manga, the only canon thing about that movie is that Uta existed.
We saw him fighting already, and I didn't see no flame.
RED teased that Shanks had a DF sword - a griffin.

Then we get the reveal of his twin and DF sword - ceberus.

Oda loves this mfer Shanks like his firstborn son. That's his Golden Boy.

The odds just aren't likely he made up a move just for a movie, especially when it has utility that explains important events in the manga, which are again
- Rocks confronting Imu in the Room of Flowers
- Blackbeard catching an on-guard Shanks

I'm skeptical about Oda because he likes to do stuff on a whim.

He might have given the "okay" for these ideas then, but then change his mind when he needs to address the actual canon story.

Haki is a case where is less is more, but Oda keeps adding more. We should've never strayed much further beyond Rayleigh's explanation.

The biggest issue I have with Haki is advanced Conqueror's Haki overlapping so much with Armament. It can boost attacks like Armament, but better, and it can guard against attacks like Armament, but better.

The whole concept of born Conquerors is already too much "God is real and He has a plan for you" for my tastes. It's very on brand for shounen to have Chosen Ones with Chosen Ones Abilities, but a balance is still achievable.

Oda isn't balancing correctly atm.

In general, yes, but for SHANKS? Oda puts him on a pedestal. So much production and promotion went into RED with Shanks, Uta, and all that nonsense. We saw Gear 5 in it before it was in the anime.

The days of Oda being hands off with movies are long behind us. This dude is heavily involved with the liveaction and the upcoming movies.

I expect 2027 to have the fewest number of chapters released in a year. 2028 might be the same, but I think the movies are all being produced concurrently, so I hope not.

So much this! All those later additions to what haki can do can be outright confusing. It was so easy in the beginning - Spidey senses, a layer of will for better offence and defence, and conqueror's ambitions, basically leader charisma over 9000.

Now we have advanced CoC, CoC mass, perma-defence (like BM), whatever else ... I gave up to make sense of this. It's just mumbo-jumbo supernatural power which is not DF for me.

And I also dislike the "chosen one" trope. I really miss Luffy who wasn't JB incarnate and was just a determined kid with a lame fruit.

And I agree, I also said in the past that supreme king haki coating it's just armament haki coating rebranded with stronger functions.

But the "intimidating" power alone was not enough considering it only works on weaklings. So either way Oda should have never brought up something like supreme king haki leaving only two types of haki or using it like a power up version of armament. I don't see other ways.

"CoC mass, perma-defence" are not that complicated. "Mass" it's just a fancy name where you use all your haki in a single blow. Defence it's just using it do defend yourself. It's not complicated.

What makes Haki particularly confusing, is that Oda never likes to give much explanation to stuff. His style is keeping stuff as vague and open as possible.

We are never geting some diagram explaining all haki types and applications like Togashi with Nen types, for instance. What we got from Rayleigh is the apex of what we can get from him.

All the terminology we use, is unironically fanmade.
"Advanced", "barrier", "ID", Future Sight, etc.

xD

The problems are the fanmade terminology. The types are three and the applications are very few.

Future Sight is the funnier one to me.
Because, as far as Oda "explained", there's no "advanced CoO". What Oda said is that some people have such good and refined CoO, that they are capable of seeing a bit into the future. That's it.
"CoO so good and refined". It's just "better CoO".
xD

CoA is the one that actually have "applications".

:PepeNumberOne:
Season 1 had 12 months of post-production and season 2 had 13 months of post-production.

Season 3 production ended on June 30, 2026, so if you assume a minimum of 12 months, we'll probably have a promotional tour starting around Summer 2027.

It could be pushed to late Summer. Oda will be travelling and promoting the season as he has been doing.

The 3 animated movies are going to - imo - take up even more of his energy.

Once you decide on physical assets for a set, they're produced and paid for.

Animation is inherently more iterative and I suspect the content of each movie to be very important to Oda, so he will have notes, he will give feedback, he'll make his numerous visits to the studios, do his sit-ins with the production team, and so on and so forth. It's going to be a very involved process involving a lot of travel and breaks.

At his peak, Oda used to average ~40 chapters per year. We're down to like 34~38 or lower on some years.

I think we're looking at 30~34 chapters per year for 2027 and 2028.

isn't 30-34 what we are getting now?

Man i realy like how Sanji's kicks were drawn this chapter, the leg always being outside the panel ''stretched'' looked really dope.
In terms of choreography one if not the best fight. Queens fight was terrible in that sense.
I guess thats more of preference than

i LOVE if oda goes wild and abstract with sanjis kick like this, it feels like motion unable to captured with how fluid and fast it is, but i get why people dont like it
