When Green Bull, an external enemy, showed up and was attacked by base Yamato, the very first thing he did was acknowledge how incredibly strong her Haki was.

Kaido's power scaling doesn't seem THAT off.

• In Kaido's eyes, Yamato was strong enough to become Shogun and protect Wano in his absence.
• In Green Bull's eyes, even base Yamato's Haki was incredibly strong.

Imu didn't even use the same technique he used against Sabo.

Imu’s forms bear a striking resemblance to Luffy’s:
Imu’s fast form = Gear 2
Imu becoming giant = Gear 3
Imu’s black form = Gear 4
Imu’s form in this chapter = Gear 5
Imu’s Zoan against Sabo = Luffy’s Monkey Zoan

Imu likely still has a hybrid form to reveal after this one.

Also he was distracted trynna save Zoro, so the bagua caught him off guard. Had he used haki or antibacterial curtain to defend, he would take even less dmg
