CineraI guess my cruxes on Zoro having lost sight in his eye are:
* Crippling Zoro like that seems out of character for Mihawk.
* No one has asked Zoro about it on panel; it suggests that there's a reveal there that Oda is holding off on making.
* Characters with eye scars didn't lose their eye. A scar is enough to show the seriousness of Zoro's training, he didn't have to lose an eye as well.
NatalijaDemons are not really a thing here.
Clearly eye damage depends on how deep the cut is. It’s more odd that Oda never addressed it, THAT makes it suspicious for just an injury.
Damn, why do you have to make us discuss this in profile posts, it’s so unpractical. ☠️
CineraAnyway, I need to head to sleep now. I'll continue later.
* What do you think Zoro's Asura is?
* What do you think Cavendish's Hakuba is?
They seem to be spiritual/cursed powers that resemble demon possession.
NatalijaResemble but not really demons, no?
And that raises the question, where would he find a “demonic power” on an island with Mihawk and Perona and a bunch of baboons?
Cinera> Clearly eye damage depends on how deep the cut is.
Zoro's cut is much shallower than Rayleigh, Shanks and Kidd though. The scar is pretty mild compared to theirs. I guess one could just argue that it's Mihawk's precise swordplay, but I'm not sure.
NatalijaMaybe Zoro did it to himself for some reason.
Cinera> where would he find a “demonic power” on an island with Mihawk and Perona and a bunch of baboons?
Where did he find Asura in the first place? He'd probably develop it naturally I guess.
CineraI'm not suggesting a demon possessed him or something, but I think it may be connected to whatever his "Asura" really is. Hakuba is the closest thing to it, and Cavendish's eyes changes whenever he brings it out. Perhaps Zoro's transformation is similar or something.
NatalijaIn his EYE? 😀
I don’t think so. But we will find out
CineraChange of plans, I initially wanted to take an hour+ nap, then wake up and get some work done (I need to finish up before a 09:00 meeting), but I think I'll just get the work done now, and then sleep during the day once my meeting is over.
I take 5 minutes breaks every session (20 minutes), so I'll continue during my breaks.
I was thinking that the same way Zoro's eyes are transformed while in Hakuba, Zoro's eyes may change when he uses Asura (or whatever the transformation is now).
CineraOn second thought, it was dishonest to claim that I don't have a horse in the race. I'm obviously quite attached to there being something up with Zoro's eye. I don't want it to be just gone I guess.
I don't particularly care about his eye having special abilities, but I do expect/want it to still be there.
Cinera> Damn, why do you have to make us discuss this in profile posts, it’s so unpractical. ☠️
Sorry, profile posts discussions are much more convenient for me than threads. I am also willing to discuss in PMs if you want. I prefer to reserve my OP posts for more important conversations I guess.
NatalijaWhat's faulty with this is that Hakuba possesses Cabbage totally. Zoro has a visible scar showing that something happened to him, it's not possessed or something. But I wouldn't be surprised if he sacrificed it himself for some reason.
CineraOh, I wasn't suggesting Asura as a reason for the scar. I was talking about why the eye is closed. I wouldn't be surprised if Zoro opens it (I expect him to eventually do so) and it is not the default human eye (the same way Hakuba's eyes are not default human eyes).
