Buusatan94He chose to go for big things too early and too quickly imo, and got caught up when having to deliver with it, having written himself into a corner by having the Straw Hats and their allies deal with two Yonkos even though it didn't make sense for them to be able of handling one Yonko and his crew at the moment, let alone two, with some big damage to the manga's plot as a consequence.
Sir YasheenGenuinely it’s such a different vibe from Luffy smashing the eternal log to Alabasta robin tried to give him because “she doesn’t decide where we sail to” meanwhile post ts everyone but Luffy was deciding their next location.
Buusatan94It's even more frustrating after how the New World had been teased many times as an ocean of the extremes, even stranger than Paradise and far more dangerous with strange phenomenons, extreme weather and especially dangerous wildlife, and that the Straw Hats would have crazy adventures there only for nothing to come of it.
soupongoThe new world is basically not different from paradise at all
Buusatan94Another wet firecracker, amongst so many others after the timeskip.
soupongoAlso, I don't even know why it's called the "new world". Dressrosa is one of the original 20 kingdoms. And yes, I wish we saw more things like bad weather and wildlife
soupongoso, what did you think based on your re read?
Buusatan94It's quite baffling and comical the triple log pose was introduced in FI only for it to have no real use and purpose once in the New World.
Buusatan94It really feels like Oda had planned initially to write at least the first arcs of the New World more like an adventure before changing his mind and choosing to follow a bigger storyline including Doflamingo and the Yonko to lead to an epic showdown with them earlier than he had initially planned
soupongoWell I meant your overall take on FMI and PH lol
Buusatan94It also feels like Oda had made at least Luffy and Zoro too strong during the timeskip or protected them too much, with their first adversaries in the New World being not much of a threat, save for Doflamingo, with Zoro not even having a real injury against Pica or real difficulty overpowering him in his human self, even with him coating himself in Coa, or even his golems.
Buusatan94I was already rather critical of Fishman Island arc due to the New Fishman Pirate and Vander Decken Pirates, who were the worst antagonist groups in OP history and beaten so easily without any sense of danger or tension. I do wish that Oda had made more complex and nuanced and formidable antagonists to show more of the complexity of the human-fishman situation and hint at how dangerous the NW will be.
soupongoYeah, Zoro and Sanji didn't really get good fights until Wano(and Im not the worlds biggest fan of those either). We didn't get anything good for them since like Thriller Bark
