Kaido was neither lucky, nor was Luffy afflicted by PIS or otherwise screwed over by the plot during their confrontation. Boundman was legitimately oneshot by Kaido.
Post WCI Luffy may not have been stronger than Kata but:
* During the fight Kata said that Luffy was no longer below his level.
* Luffy is the one who won the fight.

And sure they were the same level in the end, but that is blatantly ignoring what makes them different as fighters. The Dawg is more evasion focused while luffy is more endurance/durability focused.

@Admiral Lee Hung: You completely misunderstood me. I didn't claim that Kaido could oneshot Katakuri. I claimed that a fighter that is *at least* as strong as Kata got oneshot. This means Kata level characters are low diff material for top tiers (and one that wasn't using his DF (a mythical zoan)).

How did Kaido not get a free hit though lol? Luffy has stopped attacking him and was completely off guard. He thought Kaido was severely wounded from using Gear 4 and was not expecting that attack. It was the definition of a completely free hit.

Though I think Mihawk's ability (what he did to Luffy making him fear his life) is more effective as it is known to work on people with extreme power of will and CoC users (Luffy was a conqueror at the time).

Its not that it didn't work, he chose not to use it on them cuz they are allies or not enemies at least.
He only made every single enemy on auction house like Celestial Dragons, Security guards, shop owners etc pass out.

@Admiral Lee Hung: yeah, for now COC has no use against non fodder. But I wouldn't be surprised if Oda shows something different. Zoro was able to prevent Monet from using her DF ability through raw fear. I wouldn't be surprised if COC could do something similar.

@Cinera the difference with Zoro vs killer is that killer was trying to prepare himself by taking his weapons back but Zoro didn’t let him. Kaido just got lucky with a free shot on luffy is all.
