A sub plot but now here we are lol. In the middle of the Chimaera Ant Arc we got a Phantom Troupe battle royale sub plot out of absolutely nowhere. Like if in the middle of Wano, Oda cuts away with zero buildup and we suddenly have a war between Blackbeard and the Big Mom Pirates with zero buildup. All of the sudden it’s just happening. And that’s HxH to me, it’s like if a shizophrenic wrote the story.

And these are the more interesting flippant distractions, I’m not even mentioning all of the godawful distractions with the Octopus, the Chameleon, the women being kept underground, etc…HxH was legitimately all over the place with zero structure.

As for the Phantom Troupe, I’m not going to lie, I didn’t even realize the series was trying to introduce a villain group to me until midway through Uvogin vs the cops or whatever. HxH was so all over the place that I just thought these guys were supposed to be single arc villains but apparently these guys are like the Akatsuki of HxH. The Phantom Troupe ranks number 1 on the list of villain factions that I don’t (1

I’m of course not saying HxH is bad, it is a *good* series and nothing more. If you go from shit like Bleach and Dragonball to HxH then HxH seems like high art by comparison.

Because the troupe being at yorknew was mentioned in the arc before iirc. The only reason anyone was at Yorknew was the troupe, idk how you would miss that they were being intro´d at that point

The series basically forgets Kurapika exists after Yorknew, that’s another issue I had. A lot of people also hyped me for Chrollo, and Chrollo turned out to be one of the lamest femboys I’ve seen in an anime.
