BogardWe know Jozu was unscathed by Crocodile's sables, so he may have overcome parasite at that point, but i'm also interested in the WB pirates as a whole. Hopefully we get more info when Marco will start getting more focus
Cinera> Kata's Awakening is more impressive AND more versatile.
Doffy's range was better than Kata's. I'm not sure Kata was more versatile either considering Break White, Ever White, Off White,
Billow White,Thousand Arrows: Flap Thread and of course God Thread: 16 Holy Bullets.
Reminder that Kata never had the ability to block Boundman.
This is simply not true; Kata and Luffy fought on a closed space and despite of that, their battle affected the Mirror World quite much.
Furthermore, Kata controlled 3 big pillaws several times bigger than Mingo's building sized threads.
CineraUrgh, network issues, my message didn't send for a while.
Sentinel> I'm not sure Kata was more versatile either considering Break White, Ever White, Off White, Billow White,Thousand Arrows: Flap Thread and of course God Thread: 16 Holy Bullets.
Kata has Flowing Mochi, Raindrops Mochi, Power Mochi and both of them covers long ranged attacks and CQC
Sentinel> Reminder that Kata never had the ability to block Boundman.
He didn't need to; he simply deflected a Kong Gun and that's better than everything DD's Awakening ever demonstrated.
CineraI agree that Doffy's lack of advanced COA is a serious mark against him. If King doesn't show some form of advanced haki, I will retract this objection.
Sentinel@Finalbeta
> I wonder how difficult it would be for Katakuri to fight Doffy in a closed space
DD pushes Kata mid diff. There is a significant gap between average high tiers and high high tiers.
Sentinel@Cinera
DD doesn't have advanced CoO either. As I've said, he has basic haki.
But if neither King nor Marco show some sort of advanced haki, I'll rethink my opinion about DD as well.
SentinelNo way, Kata kept up with imperfect FS Snake Man who shits on DD in speed and reflexes.
CineraHmm... DD seems to be able to low diff high mid tiers (Smoker, (Sanji if you placed DJ Sanji there)).
If you think DD had a matchup advantage vs Law, why not Cracker having a matchup advantage vs Luffy?
Cinera@Sentinel using Jozu as a footstool — humiliating him like that — that's the superior portrayal. Oda isn't drawing DD parasiting Issho or anyone he's not stronger than.
SentinelWell, Smoker was very weakened and Sanji fought against DD on mid-air which is DD's main forte. But both are significantly weaker than even low high tiers.
When Cracker used his main biscuit soldier against base Luffy, the match-up was totally fair, it only became unfair when Cracker pulled out his biscuit soldier army on Bound Man.
SentinelOther than that, DD was forcing Law on CQC which makes it easier to cancel his hax which is Law's main forte. Hence Law was extremely limited on his other stats despite hax. Plus, DD had intel on Law's DF and perfectly knew how to counter it. Would you think base DD destroys Shutenmaru and the Dukes like that as well?
SentinelDD used Jozu as a chair and base Luffy as a toy; the humiliation is similar but I wouldn't automatically call that superior portrayal.
SentinelFurthermore, of course DD is capable tracking other high tiers with parasite, heck he could even track Katakuri or Snake Man with Parasite but the question is whether he can control them freely like fodders. And it seems this was not even the case with Jozu since he only stopped him.
Cinera> We know Jozu was unscathed by Crocodile's sables, so he may have overcome parasite at that point
Might this not have been Doffy dodging the attack (and so releasing his strings)?
Cinera> He didn't need to; he simply deflected a Kong Gun and that's better than everything DD's Awakening ever demonstrated.
Doffy blocked Double Culverin which is > one Kong Gun.
Cinera> Doffy has got trickiness on his behalf but Katakuri's physically tougher.
Kata doesn't have > tankiness than DD, that's asinine. DD took more punishment from Boundman, and much stronger attacks. He's also able to repair damage (he did this after Leo Bazooka briefly knocked him out).
