At this point it's no longer established that Mihawk is above Shanks, let alone that he's above Roger. Either Roger really isn't a swordsman (in which case the category is arbitrary), or Mihawk isn't actually the strongest swordsman.

Unless Roger was the previous WSS, the argument "using a sword as one's main fighting style implies inferiority to Mihawk" should be discarded. Mihawk may well still be the "World's Strongest Swordsman in name and actuality", it's just that the category of swordsman is a very fuzzy and ill defined thing.

I think on the concrete level of Mihawk vs Shanks, the only argument left in Mihawk's favour is that his Vivre Card states that he's waiting for someone stronger than Shanks. Some do not consider the Vivre Cards very credible, so make of it what you will.

At any rate, it's no longer established that Mihawk is a top 5 character. I think I'll wait to see what Oda does with his bounty and how he handles his buster call before making a call (heh).

I think Mihawk is indeed the most powerful swordsman, not only of his era but at least of a few more eras earlier. Just that Roger isn't classified as a swordsman. As for Shanks, they were rivals when they were young. Then, Shanks lost his arms and Mihawk didn't consider Shanks a rival even though latter powered up to Yonko level.

Maybe Shanks focused on gaining Roger's Haki based abilities since he was nerfed in the swordsmanship domain. Shanks is like Roger's favorite child. Gives him the strawhat. Let's him wear his hat on top of it.

Look at the thread. They finally accepted that WB is a swordsman (cuz they couldn't counter my arguments :kappa:) and now thay say, MIhawk being WSS and WB as a swordsman being WSM do not contradict each other. Lol.

I literally posted various sites specialized on swords and weapons, that say that a Naginata is a sword. And Zolofans be like "it's not true".

@Cinera has spoken the truth; swordbois, take an example on one of your leaders and accept that Roger using a sword is not an indicator for Zoro surpassing the latter.

Roger would high diff Kaido. I think Zoro will be >= Kaido. Maybe even extreme diffing Kaido. Which will put him still under Roger (extreme diff). But even being on par with Kaido would mean he reached his goal. But claiming he will surpass Roger? Not even being on par, but surpass? Lol.
