Laido of 100 hostages always wanted to make her new shogun of Onigashima. No matter what she did, he would not have blown up the handcuffs. She could’ve done things to help the people of Wano and just endured whatever punishment came. That would make me respect her.

As someone who is not on good terms with her father, actually it's not too farfetched to write Yamao lives outside Onigashima and doing whatever useful.
Like she can rebel, escaped home and went missing. Her whereabout is unknown. The only thing Kaido is sure is "she can't leave Wano island because of the collar".

I don't think this is a reasonable request. She had good reason to believe the cuffs were actually explosive, and they were.

If a character is just sitting there for 30 years like woe is me when there are, on occasion, prisoners and children that are kept on Wano, that character is worthless. Nami risked her life to help kids on Punk Hazard. Yamatrash made excuses and ran away from Daddy instead. She’s had free time in the past to read the diary and play with Ace, there’s no excuse for any of this.

I’m not saying that the handcuffs weren’t explosive. I’m saying she should’ve called Kaido’s bluff or just tanked the explosion. What, is she Camie or something that can’t defend herself? Explosions don’t kill people in this series and Kaido would not allow his intended future Shogun to lose her hands anyway.

I think the phrase ‘just because you can justify something doesn’t mean it’s good’ applies here, and I’d extend it to say that just because you can justify it doesn’t change what Yamatrash is, which is 30 year old unemployed cosplayer living in Daddy’s basement.

"Explosions don't kill people in One Piece" is not an argument. Explosions are only non lethal in One Piece because of plot/out of story reasons.

No, Yamatrash is being unrealistic. Explosions don’t kill people, especially when you have haki. Even if you get hurt, so what? Walk it off. Luffy and Zoro were willing to chop off their own limbs to escape and help their crew. Kyros actually did chop off his leg. No excuses. Get em off by hook or by crook and do some work.
