I remember even some Sanji fans (influenced by @ZenZu ) were saying Sanji's character is finished after WCI. I always told them nobody will remember those atrocities once he gets a good fight. Do you see any Sanji fans complaining about WCI or Sanji anymore?

Mihawk hasn’t been tainted yet. So that's some hope. In any case, read without any expectation and you will be a lot happier with OP. I didn’t expect Mihawk to have anything above 2 Billion, so you can imagine what a great surprise last chapter was.
I don't expect much from Zoro anymore though. By extension, I don't expect Mihawk to do much either.
