In every Itachi related thread, Itachi haters were like: "Genjutsu? Lol he avoids eye contact. Amaterasu? Lol, he senses it or pays attention to the blood coming out and dodges".

I wish I took screenshots of it before they changed the website around and killed the old groups. A Debaters group, basically the VS section, made an All Time NB debate tier list. Conveniently, the top tiers were all filled with Itachi fans.

Well tbh, in the manga Itachi's genjutsu only looked impressive while facing people who lacked knowledge on the sharingan(Deidara). With knowledge we saw by the war arc that kage lvl fighters can fight while avoiding eye contact

Well, Gai, who is a Taijutsu-top tier, had to specifically train for avoiding eye contact. While Sakura said how hard it is to do so. Itachi could always easily provoke you into eye contact. Like he did with Kakashi, who however used a Bunshin (but Bunshins are a basic skill set that won't work everytime). Kage's had the advantage of long range techniques. And in the end, Raikage was caught in it, lol.

Itachi is able to cast powerful genjutsu without eye contact. For whatever reason, he never utilized it outside of specific encounters. Itachi without PIS kills most Kage tier character almost entirely with genjutsu.

This list was made in like, 2015. KG owned the VS section lol. So it makes sense a lot of people ranked him highly. I definitely should be in Tier 2. I see a lot of people, like Akatsukichurch, NegativeKnight, Dr. proof, Transcendence, who I wouldn't lose to in those old formal debates we'd do.

Kakashi can also cast genjutsu without sharingan, but genjutsu have lvl of strength. BOS Naruto almost broke that one when he was still having chakra control problem. More refined chakra user could break that genjutsu without problems

Itachi could cast high level paralysis genjutsu on experts such as Orochimaru, who struggled to break free of it and wasn't noticing it for minutes as he stalked Itachi. That's the part to take home. If Itachi hits you with genjutsu like that, he has an open avenue to use Tsukuyomi or Amaterasu to finish you off.
