Gorosei InformerI will one day definitely! I lost a 20 hour save due to an issue with the DS version I think and it killed my interest in it for a long time lol.
Thats so awesome about SoA hahaha, thats made my day! Lamba Burst in your house LMAO! Aye, if you still have a Genesis or any retro/previous generation console, why not? I stupidly sold mine for newer consoles and I DEEPLY regret it to this day, it was like selling parts
G
Gorosei Informerof my soul each time. "EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!" as that meme goes lol.
You have such awesome, relative taste in games too, I appreciate that so much! I don't remember a lot of SoA now but I'm gonna replay it and vainly hope for a remaster/remake one day too!
Have you played Okami too per chance? I EXTREMELY recommend it if you havent!
wordyYeah, Chrono Trigger is one of the greatest! I also love the Ys series, Mother/Earthbound, DQ, Star Tropics, and random titles like Sword of Vermillion. SNES and Genesis have most of my favs.
Okami is amazing! I cried like a baby several times when I played it. Shadow of the Colossus is another one that I cried the whole way through and was released around the same time as Okami.
G
Gorosei InformerOooh yes! I really enjoyed YS Origin! Brilliant game! I tried to play the first 2 but didn't get along with them. A good friend of mine swears by Oath In Felghana? Mother/Earthbound I've heard a lot about never tried. Was permanently scarred by a Newgrounds animation with "Prince Poo" in a more literal sense so that put me off too hahaha! I tried a Dragon Quest game on DS and also FInal Fantasy 3 I think it was
G
Gorosei Informerand they were very nice! I also LOVED the Golden Sun games, but never got to play Dark Dawn...
Sword of Vermilion is one I always meant to try but never did. I knew a girl who loved Star Ocean, who was the one to get me into TOS and Shaman King too lol. Star Tropics Ive heard of but not tried. Sword of Mana/Secret of Mana I was meant to try too. Breath of Fire, Blue Dragon etc.
Although not a RPG,
G
Gorosei InformerFinal Fantasy: Crystal Bearers on Wii was so freaking good too imo! Loved the telekinesis type powers the game revolved around, so unique and fun!
Gosh this is such a trip down memory lane haha! Did you ever play Secret of Thor/Beyond Oasis too? I LOVED that game. One of my cousins got me into it and we BINGED IT all night, was my first all nighter ever, we did like an 18 hour session of it and completed the game
G
Gorosei Informertogether, it was priceless! I had a bunch of older cousins who all got me into gaming, especially Mega Drive/Genesis and one of them gave me their Mega Drive and I think I got some games from some of them too.
There was also these really swell card RPG type games on Gamecube called Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2, it was like Yugioh meets Monster Hunter or Zelda for me. Made by the Dark Souls devs too! Absurdly good games!
G
Gorosei InformerOH MAN RIGHT?! I cried so hard especially for Shiranui, the truth about "Rao", Kushis Ride, the AMAZING finale that makes me cry just thinking about it now even, the BEAUTIFUL credits with the Reset song before they removed it for some reason from the HD re-release, bah!
Okami is so astounding in so many ways, it really changed my life! A former best friend used to let me play it at his house briefly BUT when it
G
Gorosei Informercame to Wii and eventually Steam/PC much later, it changed my life so much, I fell IN LOVE with it so much! Its because of Okami I had such EXTREMELY high expectations for Wano too especially! Well that and maybe Sengoku Basara which is also fantastic in its own ways imo.
Muramasa: The Demon Blade was another truly fantastic game on the Wii too! Oh man those were the days...Draglade on DS too, the musical combo beat
G
Gorosei Informerthem up fighter game, that let you make your own "musical fighting combos" too!
Its sad how LAUGHABLY SUPERIOR Okami is to Wano too, I cant even begin to describe how frustrating it is seeing Oda BUTCHER the Orochi so mercilessly when it was truly a relentless, unstoppable, cockroach-like boss in Okami! Such an epic storyline spanning a century too at least ofc!
Okamis art style and soundtrack were phenomenal too!
G
Gorosei InformerAt college, I was studying games design and we had to do a case study on our favourite game, so I picked Okami and just went HAM talking about it! Ohammy even! LMAO! I damn near got perfect marks, maybe even 100% after all because my essay on it was so damn passionate and good! It even makes my essays on here look tame hahaha!
Shadow of the ColossoSUS looked like such a brilliant game too, never got to play it but
wordyOath in Felghana is good! It's a remake of the 3rd one, my fav.
Mother is really, really weird. You have to be at least slightly high to play it I think. It's really engaging and funny though.
G
Gorosei Informerit looked intriguing to me, truly epic and a game I always wanted to try. Same with some others like Ico, The Last Guardian, Jak and Daxter and of all things Blinx The Time Sweeper lmao.
You are making my day with being so familiar with these games, its so great to have someone share that same passion I have for them and thus similar experiences/knowledge of them! Affinity ftw!
Ah yeah? I didnt know Oath was a remake btw! I should really check it out, I said I would years ago but forgot and thus never did lol. My friend showed me the OST and as typical to that series, it was GREAT ofc too!
Hahaha yeah, Mother seems very Jojo/JJBA style weird or even Bobobo. Pure Japanese absurdity haha! Gamecube had some really weird, truly Japanese exclusive
G
Gorosei Informergames too that I always wanted to try and then there was the Parappa the Rappa games too lol. Didnt play them but discovered them by the memes a while ago and GOOD LORD WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THERE, was basically my reaction to them LMAO!
They kinda seem like a tamer version of Warioware games in absurdity?
In fact on that note too, have you heard of Pizza Tower? Its a modern game,
G
Gorosei InformerHEAVILY inspired by 90s games and cartoons, especially Sonic and a more recent-ish game like 2010s era called Hell Yeah which is also by Sega IIRC?
It is UTTERLY INSANE and CHAOTIC, pure 90s madness and turbulence! I imagine you will get INTENSE nostalgia from it like I did? Hahaha!:
Its like Wario, Sonic, Beavis and Butthead/Ren and Stimpy did a FUSION somehow!
wordySame, you've got great taste! I forgot about Golden Sun! That's a really good series for people who like to tinker with stats constantly like me. You've played a lot of good ones!
I checked out Beyond Oasis when it showed up in the Genesis app on switch, but never finished it.
Parappa is great, but the second one, Jammer Lammy, is crazier and absolutely insane. Guitaroo Man is also kinda weird but sweet.
wordyBut Space Channel 5 might be the best as far as acid trip rhythm games, lol
wordyI'll have to check out Pizza Tower. It looks very Earthworm Jim!
G
Gorosei InformerTyvm haha! Aye, absolutely! Being able to swap Djinns to change your classes was really cool and I loved the summons too! Such fantastic music as well! And a dark story too...Also, being able to impact the direction of the story by taking detours like going to Mercury Lighthouse and meeting Mia before you go to the forest area with the giant talking tree! The games had so much love put into them, Lost Age just
