Mihawk and Vista clashed for less than a minute, and Crocodile was able to force Mihawk to back off completely (Mihawk choosing not to fight him at all as opposed to fighting him and postponing). If you take Mihawk's combat showings at face value, you end up with a lot of wildly diverging placements.

Vista didn't accomplish something better than Crocodile. Hell, preskip Don Krieg was able to get Mihawk to postpone. The only reason to commend Vista for his showings vs Mihawk was because the latter complimented him and so did the Databooks (which aren't all that cannon).

I do not wank Vista for anything he's showed vs Mihawk. Mihawk's showings are far too circumstantial to be taken at face value. The only person that deserves commendation for their showings vs Mihawk is Jozu (he blocked an attack that should have some measure of strength behind it as it was directed at Whitebeard).

Downplaying Mihawk for his 2 panel clash with Vista (he was much more focused in his clash with Zoro, and it lasted for longer) is inconsistent unless you also downplay him for backing off from Crocodile or postponing against Don Krieg.

A serious Mihawk should be able to low/neg diff Vista. If you claim otherwise because of their clash, you would need to claim that a serious Mihawk can't neg diff Don Krieg and that a serious Mihawk can't low diff Crocodile.

There were external reasons for Mihawk to postpone vs Vista (Sengoku's request), while there were no such reasons for Mihawk to postpone vs Don Krieg.

I don't have all that many desiderata for powerscaling, but one of the few I do have is consistency. Thus:

Krieg is far weaker than Vista and Croc, I don’t think there’s anything inconsistent with thinking Mihawk negs Krieg but he can’t low diff Vista and Croc lol.

Because people I place on the same level as Mihawk (Big Mom, Sakazuki, Kuzan, Kaido, Lin Lin) have demonstrated the ability to low diff characters on the same general level with Vista (Jozu, Queen) or substantially stronger (Post WCI Boundman), I hold the position that a serious Mihawk can beat Vista with no/low difficulty just as his contemporaries do.

The inconsistency is reasoning: "Mihawk postponed vs Vista, therefore he can't low diff Vista". Mihawk also postponed vs Don Krieg, and there was no external reason for him to do so like there was in the case of Vista.

I would say it was a low diff fight. Luffy failed to do any damage to Kaido in base, and he got KOed by Kaido's first attack. Luffy did pummel Dragon Kaido, but Dragon Kaido appears to only have long range attacks.

I’m not sure I view luffy and Kaido is that way. Kaido basically got a free hit on an essentially off guard Luffy and even then he used a named attack + armament haki. Not sure it’s fair to call that a low diff.

Mihawks showings don't justify him low diffing Vista, but the logia trio and Yonkou have demonstrated the ability to low diff people stronger than Vista. If Mihawk is on their level, then he should be able to as well. The alternative is that Mihawk is not on their level.
