In the first translation I assumed Kaido was interested to have a 1 on 1 fight with the man who had the reputation of being among the strongest and peer to Xebec. With this translation there might be another interpretation. This could also be a form of respect towards Roger, since Kaido respects strong people and creates a kind of competition in his head.
