Personally stories and level design are the WEAKEST part of team ninja games, which makes me super skeptical of rise of ronin

Also the gameplay they showed at the last playstation state of play had SO many reused assets from wo long and Nioh it was crazy. Like they show the character running by a ladder leading up to a small platform with an archer on it

And I was like “I’ve seen that a million times before.” Reusing assets from previous games is usually fine (fromsoft does a lot with enemies like the crabs, basilisks, etc) but if I look at an ENVIRONMENT and go “I recognize this” that’s a red flag

I heard Team Ninja was planning on releasing a game a year

I don't expect much but maybe they'll learn from level desig/stories for future games

I think I’ve said this before but I feel like team ninja peaked with Nioh 2 and every game they’ve made since has been influenced too much by chasing Fromsoft

Like with wo long they were clearly chasing Sekiro, and I think rise of ronin is them chasing Elden Ring. They should have just kept the same Nioh combat and kept refining more and more imo

I'm sure Rise of Ronin will have some good bosses but I'm not expecting much otherwise.

I wouldn't be surprised if Neowiz takes their place as the "second best souls like developer"

Yeah I saw the cross-over. Surprised they didn’t take more from each other. The flash in red attacks for when to press parry would make lies of p combat even better and neowiz could help team ninja with levels.

Also I think Neowiz already has replaced team ninja. Team ninja games are pretty mediocre overall apart from Nioh 2 imo (never played ninja gaiden so I can coment) whereas they’re 1 for 1 with lies of p.

Damn, I remember reading that Elden Ring had 3x the number of enemies as Horizon Forbidden West when they came out but I didn’t realize there were THAT many enemies
