This is really just Oda setting up the coming Shanks arc, easing in the realization that Shanks won't be considered a swordsman. You wouldn't shoehorn in a comment like that from Zoro without some manner of thought behind it.

Shanks is someone who dabbled in swordsmanship and did formal duels with Mihawk, but being a swordsman was never the core of his character. You know, like when Usain Bolt decided to play football for a while.
It gives him unnatural durability (blocking attacks with a magic sword is no better than blocking attacks with a raid suit), and it gives him way higher attack power.

Actually, the power of enma raid suit was Zoro's Sanji's own power all along. Enma The raid suit simply helped master his own power better, it doesn't add power in itself.
