I wouldnt say arrogance, but he did beat a tanky wall who barely fought back on screen with the help of law and both having insane stamina and also got tanky with the help of convienly well placed bombs. He should logicly give shanks a challenge or BM was a fraud.

Let me guess most of this interaction will be offscreen with the results coming in a year or two. Shanks might do an attack or two to hype people up.

Oda relies on hype and mysteries to keep this manga interesting and when it comes to delivery it barely worth all the wait.
