Shanks gets bent over a barrel off panel. In karmatic fashion Teach himself gets killed in a mutiny by his Impel Down crew after a disgraceful defeat to Luffy.
Luffy punched a CD, invaded Enies Lobby, escaped Impel Down, is the son of Dragon, has to rescue Ace 2, and is on course to reach Raftel - the WG was never going to just let him be. To be the FMA (freest man alive) he has to overcome the WG.
In real life humans peak in physical fitness in their early 30s and slowly decline from there. Pic related, it's grip strength by age. The grip strength of an 80 year old man is on average about ~60% that of a 30 year old man.
My personal theory is that he along with some of the BMPs will seek out Luffy after Big Mom's defeat - partly out of his respect for Luffy and partly out of necessity (the Marines/SSG are comin'). The BP remnants, if any, are more likely to ally themselves with Blackbeard.
Blackbeard has his quake fruit and Weevil is stated to be as physically strong as him. He need only beat Weevil to prove he's physically stronger (mint writing btw, Oda) and fight Blackbeard to prove that he can handle the quake fruit -- which should be irrelevant anyway since he's rubber.
The problem I have with this hypothetical is that if Luffy arrived with gear 4th from the start he'd be to the platform much sooner, or would attempt to be. The events aren't going to play out exactly the same, step for step.

Maybe, maybe not. Where is Wano Luffy and what is he doing at this time? Is he distracted and already advancing on the platform all away across the battlefield? Did he arrive with the WBPs in this hypothetical or did he just escape Impel Down and fall from the sky?
Is Luffy capable of...
Imu-sama - glory be thy name - fits into no existing category for which to contend with other characters. WSS/WSM/WSP/WSC? She's not a man, let alone of this world.
