I think the biggest hint of yami yami no mi actually being a zoan is Teach saying it "chose him", since zoans are the only fruits which are supposed to have their own will. It coming to Thatch first just screams whatever entity that exists within the fruit testing Teach if he has what it takes...

Also, concerning Blackbeard, if Caribou actually leaves Egghead with Laffitte instead of going forward to Elbaf with Luffy then I wouldn't be surprised if Blackbeard goes ancient weapon hunting (either to Wano or FMI, maybe both?) while strawhats are busy doing whatever on Elbaf.

I think Elbaf will be more of a short lore arc to be honest. Wouldn't be surprised if this is where we get the Void Century flashback everyone expects even. If there is a big bad it might just be Loki, if Oda wants to do one last "save an island from an evil despot" arc.

Akainu has no control over WG or who becomes an official king, if the gorosei / Imu think they need Garp back for some positive PR they will just decide so and he can only grin and bear it, unless he wants to go into an open rebellion.
