Characters who aren't getting out of that chokehold: - Zoro - Sanji - Jinbei - Katakuri - King (unless he uses flames) - Queen - Crocodile - Weevil Blackbeard is literally the final villain. You're not weak just cause you can't break out of his chokehold

One thing I like about One Piece is that characters will automatically get stronger for the sake of staying relevant in the story regardless of how much sense it makes. Dorry and Brogy are probably the stand-out examples right now.

I could definitely see Oda taking Kuzan's character in a lot of different directions. I think for now I'd prefer to see Kuzan stick with Blackbeard up until maybe the final arc. Maybe Koby or Smoker could restore Kuzan's faith in justice.
