I don’t think the issue is Haki being established late, but rather the stylistic choices he made were it hard to tell normal CoA with AdCoA and the same with AdvCoA with AdCoC. Oda should have made the visuals clear and differen.

He is Pica on steroids both in DF powers and physical strength all Sanji has to do is the same as Zoro vs Pica, but on a higher scale. Not sure about the need of a similar thing to flaming bagua, Ifrit Jambe and a whole lot of physical strength.

This pretty much confirmed it. Oda didn’t do it for no reason, but rather on purpose. One has a better version of Pica’s fruit while the other has the same fruit as Sanji’s old opponent, but in the hand of a more powerful and capable fighter. It’s screaming Zoro and Sanji match ups.
