He retreated away from that spot because the Bananji onslaught was too powerful for him to stop (Futei also a problem). Which is both very impressive (look at how much Hara emphasises Bananji's might on 615 i believe, from the POV of kaine, futei, ousen soldiers and narrator notes), but this...
That's just semantics of the map. He retreated from Bananji because he couldn't stop him. Hara himself said Ousen underestimated Bananji's power and that it was overpowering, with Ousen's men all desperate for him to escape.
So go back to when Bananji decimated the Ousen defences in front of him and forced the latter to retreat and ultimately be saved by Ouhon and Mouten.
Would Ranbihaku have been able to replicate that performance under the same conditions?
Based on everything we've seen, the answer is Ouhon.
But we should also remember that we never saw Bananji at his most ferocious. He has a demon mode, as stated by even Riboku. His emotions control is state of mind and presumably his strength. He said the Qin don't stir him up like the Xiognu...
I know Gakuhaku looked great vs Shin for a while, but remember the latter was not going alpha. If I were to give him a stat, it would be 93. 94 at a push.
Sentou'un wins i think
Keisha above GHM is interesting - I would disagree. Especially when you consider China itself considered Karin and GHM to be the two new starlets to pop up in that army. I assume Keisha would be considered a newcomer to China as well, even if SSK did recognise him.
I've always felt like Kanou will join the HSU much later down the line. He was there for Shin's first 'moment' when he roared his name and he'll do something similar at the end.
GG level is quite a broad term but whilst i do think Kyouen was brilliant, I don't think he was close to Renpa. Some vague (but still impressive) statements of hype were used to describe him but we heard first hand what Renpa himself thought of Kyouen; Renpa described having his "hands burned"...
To be honest i haven't yet seen enough to make an accurate judgement. I'd probably give the nod to the Seika 4 (and especially if they have Fuhon) but it's close. Heavenly Kings are underrated by some.
Gaimou wins. He's too strong. He may even win comfortably (as less than high diff). If Gyou'un has the Raigoku, then it is interesting.
It would be a cool war actually because I wonder if Gyou'un would take the Renpa/Ouki outlook.
In a duel, I am sure it would be very close, actually. Akou wins high or extreme.
Akou is the far far superior commander though. Even though he wins the war, what probably makes it look better for Batei is that Akou's style of choice would be to fight head on, which is Batei's game too. So Akou...
Akou is the superior commander overall although Rokuomi could potentially win a duel, a stalemate is more likely there.
One interesting part would be how Akou approaches this. His natural style is offensive might but that's also Rokuomi's game and he may even win that. Akou has more weapons to...
Gaimou is done really well in the anime. Has Teach's VA as well. Looks like a monster and only believes his duel with Shin was a light spar.
The narrator tells us that Riboku/SSK/China "redrew" the borders in China which may explain the retcon of chu/zhao no longer facing each other.
So you're saying that this is;
Moubu/Ouki army vs Kanmei, Karin, Rinbukun and Juuko 4?
Keisha + Kochou vs Duke?
Plus the the rest as canon.
Firstly, Riboku isn't able to create a coalition but beyond that, the Coalition dominate.
He's not. His macro level strategies were very good and unfortunately the nature of the plan which defeated him meant that he never got to show his micro level tactics.
But yeah, Juuko still dominate.
I think if you watch first, you'll lose the surprise factor of various events and thus miss out on some things.
That's ignoring the horrible CGI, censoring and straight up off-panelling of arcs.
