In general maybe. Imo Nika fruit is the hardest fruit to awaken. Luffy has many near death experiences but the fruit never awaken. It seems the user literally had to die for the fruit to awaken. Imagine a character trying to awaken Nika fruit on their own without knowing they had to die...
