Since the timeskip One Piece has lost its soul. It now relies only on world building and character designs/reveals to remain interesting. Occasionally there are moments that harken back to before but it's few and far between.

I hope he is and when Jinbe sees Big Mom we get a more flushed out explanation. Or it's just Oda trying to wrap up plot lines...which would be anticlimactic to me.
