"Nerfed" is such an annoying buzzword that gets thrown around way too often...
King wasn't nerfed. Oda specifically introduced a new race of which he is the last known survivor, and through this gave him powers of fire creation and that incredibly high defense + some pretty nonsensical ability...
To me it sounded like the "this is our chance to erase this nuisance" part was the prelude to the discussion of that legendary devil fruit.
And THAT kinda sounds like the person who has that fruit was a thorn in their eyes for a while, even without knowing the truth about their devil fruit.
In...
Maybe Oda's goal was to tie Pound's "death" in with the concept of dying when you are forgotten. Lola and Chiffon never knew about him, meaning he was never alive for those he cared about. Then he "died" and later was able to tell his daughters who he was, becoming alive for the first time since...
Certainly not the very best, but as it wasn't mentioned yet: Luffy vs Arlong
Funny in the beginning, then the fast shift to being emotional - Luffy breaking part of Arlong's sword, then his nose and lastly the entirety of Arlong Park was hype af.
Still, I don't know how that would make any sense for Gin's character. Not killing Sanji and by that being ready to die by Krieg's hands, yet only two-three years later he would fight Sanji to the death? That would pretty much overwrite what we've already got.
Yeah, no one but Luffy has any...
Well, jumping ship from Krieg to Blackbeard would already kinda undermine that so-called loyalty argument, wouldn't it?
And in the grand scheme of things, Gin also isn't that much of a big deal in Sanji's life, so I don't see any emotional weight that "nothing could compare with".
I'd say giving the biggest villain crew of the story someone who already has friendly ties with the Strawhats isn't a great idea. Gin would no doubt become an ally in the end, and we don't need villains becoming friends every time, especially not in this predictable way.
I think it is more...
You can have all the opinions you want, but phrasing it in a way that insults other people and their opinions is just called "being an asshole" not "having an opinion".
The prediction of the destruction of Fishman Island seemed extremely stressful to Shyarly when she made it, so I wouldn't be surprised if that caused her to not see the details. Just like you can't use Future Sight when you don't stay calm.
To me there's a difference in certain things. For all of these things I have an image in my head for what's to come, and some of them are definitely worth waiting for dozens of chapters. Like that silhouette in 1004, no matter if it's Hiyori or Toki, is something I'd imagine would be hype for...
I plan on reading One Piece until the end, so I don't really care WHEN Oda reveals the mysteries of the world he created.
What matters to me is that he doesn't leave things open to interpretation and that the answers he's giving are to my satisfaction. But I can only judge that at the end...
I'm a little confused. Aren't you always saying that Oda giving us more and more information and opening new plotlines that don't get resolved quickly every arc is bad storytelling? Poseidon, Joy Boy etc. are basically the epitome of that.
Not saying that you're wrong (although I have a...
Deaths are a choice game in One Piece. Everyone has to choose who they believe is dead and who isn't until they are confirmed or not. I personally choose to believe that Pedro, Ashura and Kiku are dead and that Kinemon and Sabo aren't, but to each their own. No reason to call someone dumb for...
Capone, because he initially took Sanji and brought him to WCI
Big Mom, because she is the leader
Sanji, because he could've escaped earlier
Luffy, because he accepted Sanji's request
Pedro, because he made the decision to blow himself up
There's a lot of better options where the Minks could...
I don't know, man. Sanji getting connections to Queen and now potentially to King's god race seems pretty relevant to me. I would even argue that there's a connection to Jack, being a Fishman and Sanji possibly being the human closest to that race. So Sanji basically combines parts of every...
