It’s not the same. I spent all my summers back there. What the sport means for these kids is unlike anything you see here. That passion can’t be manufactured.
Kids don’t really feel the sport growing up. When you go to any other country in Europe, South America, or even Mexico you start feeling how culturally heavy soccer is for them.

You compete throughout the years to eventually win. All the greats have gone through the same thing. We believe we can make it because we’ve come far only to lose in the end. It builds character and prepares you for the day you actually make it.
The US has improved a lot in the last two years ever since they got rid of berhalter. I still remember that last copa America and the utter humiliation they suffered against Colombia before that.
