Imo it's between Death Note, Monster and Berserk, with some others like Vinland, HxH, etc coming close but not quite there. Ultimately, I went with Death Note, cuz Light vs L laps everything else on the list, even though there is a slight decline in the second part of the manga.

Well no. You can like something better and it can still objectively be worse than something else you like less. I can, for example, like Dandadan or idk Black Clover more than something like HxH or FMA, but it wouldn't mean the former are better than the latter, and they are not.
