I recall reading otherwise. Plus all the other problems it gave them, like the music issues, the long break before the Buu arc that turned out looking worse than ever with a green tint.

I don't like it much, it's too bland looking. One Piece is a super colorful world, this feels like watching a flashback all the way through.

Yeah definitely. Kakuzu was damn OP if he were to use his abilities logically. His loss is merely for the plot to move on from the Immortal Duo and to the bigger ranked opponents, which is a shame that it happened in such a stupid way. Both him and Hidan deserved better.
