I prefer what Oda gave the crew here over the Onigashima Beast Pirates look. Sanji's much better, Zoro's is weird in a good way and Luffy with the helmet is nice. I agree some of them kinda look like henchman but it fits and they somehow pulled it off.
That attack doesn't look like G4 unless he can use it in specific body parts all of a sudden (if so I'd prefer to see more instances of that, cause beating a cat seems like a weird first usage of such). Seems like G3. Maybe a typo.
I like how Sanji's already doing more pre-existing attacks but amped up with Ifrit Jambe. Kinda like how Diable Jambe was used post-timeskip, seems Sanji's already adjusted to Diable Jambe that well.
Their Elbalf costumes look pretty cool for being quite distinct from the usual island clothes...
Cool that we're already in Elbalf. The events of this chapter sound like they could've occurred quicker rather than a whole chapter but the combo attacks sounds kinda cool. Hopefully Usopp sucking just allows him to be faced with the reality of his weakness and maybe he can actually improve...
Fair. They have instances of competing but that's in specific moments like hunting or beating fodder or most importantly laying their lives down for Luffy in Thriller Bark. It's more so their interpersonal dynamic of having issues but also mutual respect. If you don't feel rival is a fitting...
I can't see it against Shiryu, not enough build up or hype for him or that confrontation. I can believe Nusjuro and if not then definitely Mihawk. Zoro will get stronger regardless, no need for Oda to rush to sky-splitting, it should fit. Luffy was approaching Kaido to fight on equal footing and...
I think it'll be set up or built up to happen and so long as Teach doesn't make moves before the Straw Hats reach Elbalf it should occur. It's time Luffy takes what Shanks taught him to heart, you protect your friends no matter what. Bartolomeo chose to disrespect Shanks' flag, but he's still...
I mean the rivalry obviously exists in terms of beliefs and clash of personality and such. Their strength is more so a means of allowing Oda to express their conflicting ideas on matters since it's not a case where one's incomparable to the other. Little Garden exemplified this.
I don't think...
Bartolomeo started it, but he's Luffy's friend and supposedly the idea that Roger, Shanks and Luffy live by is if you harm their friends you're for trouble. Luffy should stand by that, Bartolomeo screwed up, but Shanks wrecked him, the same way the Red Haired Pirates can't afford to let rookies...
Yeah, Shiryu isn't really shaping up to be better than Aokiji, but as long as his armament and fruit are great, he can make for a decent Zoro fight. No clue on what an awakening would be, but so long as it's busted, it could be a fight.
I mean Pizarro controls the whole island, a lot of expectations are on him to ensure those trapped stay trapped and escapes don't happen. Sure, Teach didn't see everything, but it makes sense he keep him in line and complaint his inability to stop the situation from escalating.
I like it for...
Oda might be cooking. Crew separated, half actually in a predicament, the other half probably unsure if they should stay put or continue to Elbalf. Oda kinda biased with how he gives panels and the top 6 Straw Hats (usually) now all together. Oda, you ain't slick. Is this the Man Marked by...
Shanks and his crew actually getting stuff done in regards to getting rid of upstarts and those that disrespect them is nice. Of course, Shanks and co. aren't some super respectable guys, I don't mind them kinda being douches. I just hope Oda explores the non-Shanks members while there's still...
Bounties. Will go along with the Blackbeard Pirates also consistently improving and making moves. Both groups increasing in notoriety and strength arc to arc. Bounties now then again post Elbalf. This is the final saga, most of the arcs will be that important that the crew is recognised.
Mars would be more appropriate for Sanji. Sanji was already involved in a clash against him too. Garling and Sanji have little reason to fight. I agree Dragon would be a great choice to face him, both get massive hype and show off against one another.
Kizaru followed his duty and killed Vegapunk, and feels frustration over his situation. This doesn't mean he'll bail from the Navy or that he won't continue his job, he could easily make personal break through regarding his position as a cog in the machine in a battle, especially against someone...
The dialogue between Akainu and Kizaru was even better than expected. Kizaru snapping on Akainu and doubly down even after the apology was nice, very fitting since Akainu didn't understand Kizaru's situation and since Kizaru did what he was ordered to.
Hopefully we get more panels of Akainu...
