It isn't, it's more akin to that of musketeers if we went for a popularly identifiable stereotype, although its overall name is capitano hat and its later version cavalier hat; which belong to XVI and XVII centuries, more or less. Conquistadores were better identified by their distinctive helmet...
Hopefully Saturn. Not only for the obvious reference to the mythical Saturn killing his own children, but also because Oda could execute the perfect homage to Star Wars.
Bonney: Saturn, you killed my father!
Saturn: No; I am your father.
That, first, filling a role isn't necessary; and even if it was necessary, Jinbe does fill one more important than others in the crew.
Franky can't handle the helm the way Jinbe can.
Noone else in the crew is close to being able to truly steer the ship. Put Jinbe in the different situations...
A swordsman is also an useless position too. So is a cook (you don't need a Michelin star chef, just a person keeping scurvy away). And a musician. Knock up stream helped destroy Merry, in Fishman Island their buble almost exploded and they evaded Garp because they had one trick to fly away...
Jinbe actually has a role to fill, represents fishmen as the race which best symbolizes discrimination against non humans and his actions through Marineford and how he supported Luffy after Ace's death made him one of his closest acquaintances. Also, Jinbe's foundations as a character were so...
Maybe when someone actual speaks in the story about a monster duo we will talk; sadly for you, the monster trio is the one actually mentioned in the manga.
He made his decision to go after One Piece when Luffy finally established himself as a serious contender for finding the treasure in the close future. Sounds more like Shanks was waiting for Luffy to be an actual adversary for him so didn't make a move until he had become a Great Pirate and...
Rocks' crew isn't following Roger but they eventually recognized him as the king of piracy. The Whitebeard who treated Rocks as a fool dedicated his last words to push Roger's will; Shiki accepted Roger as the king of their era and only after his death considered Whitebeard the new ruler of the...
No, it had nothing to do with strength. Rocks just wasn't that guy. Do you imagine Shanks, Rayleigh, Oden... treating Roger like a fool and not considering themselves his subordinates?
The Rocks Pirates were more like a guild. Hardly any of those pirates respected Rocks, he didn't have the charisma to control a bunch of conquerors working together solely for their own benefit. Whitebeard wasn't a subordinate the way Zoro or Rayleigh are.
I think they would have made some reference to Luffy's powers if that was the case; after all, Luffy has met tons of people present in God Valley and nobody has ever mentioned his fruit. Nobody has ever given any significant importance to his Gomu Gomu abilities.
Yes, they did.
There's something very valuable in God Valley, that's obvious. Gaban's words make it look that even Roger's crewmates want it for themselves and wouldn't be willing to give it to Roger if they found it.
Obviously it's something very important because Kong doesn't want to talk...
What makes Roger not a fraud is that, at the end of the day, his peers recognized him as the king of pirates.
Chinjao described it quite explicitly: the pirate king is the conqueror atop conquerors. Which is why Kaidou recognized him as the person who conquered the world with the strongest...
