Does this matter? He was still an unstoppable monster they were completely powerless against. Surely an acknowledgment of the WG's hidden strength from any of those guys would have been warranted considering they experienced it first hand.
I could get behind that somewhat if the hunting...
Unless Oda decides to go for a memory wipe kind of situation after the facts (which would bring its own problems), he's written himself into one hell of a corner here.
I was already iffy about this genocide game being a regular thing the celestial dragons do considering how much suspension of...
Most of the asterisks in this fight are in support of Kizaru's performance tho...
He was not in it emotionally and was dealing with internal struggles. He was constantly distracted by the need to pursue his mission. He was explicitely told to not cause damage to the facilities.
So despite...
My point is that Kaido isn't some entity with a pre set level of power that exists beyond the reach of Oda's pencil. If he wanted awakening in his skill set, a simple writing adjustment would have done the trick without any need to overall make him any weaker or stronger.
Basically, awakening...
Never really understood this justification here.
One Piece is a story. If Oda wanted to write awakening as part of Kaido or Big Mom's skillset, he could have simply made their base powers weaker and more limited and reserved the full breadth of what they can do to awakening. No need to even...
This was beautifully made from start to finish. Animation was full of life and personality, the whole premise with the focus on average people and their perception of the SHs is not only fun with tons of potential for humor that was very well exploited (the bar scene lol), they also managed to...
Cool to see Ishitani directing the "Fan Letter" thingy. Lots of personality and life in the presentation.
Anyway, hope the break will lead to better pacing going forward. As normal as it's been for OP, the 1 chapter per episode standard isn't a great viewing experience. Only a couple of...
Hopefully they return with 2 or chapters adapted per episode because this is a good opportunity to let the manga get even more of a lead and somewhat fix the pacing...
Tbh seeing how little Oda cared in portraying the drastic jump in strength between G2 and G3 and between G3 and G4 in the Kaido fight, I see very little point in the partial G4 thing.
It just doesn't feel like a very exciting improvement when Kaido was reacting to G4 the exact same way he was...
Many of my favorites have already been mentioned (including "nothing happened" and "El Dorado was up there") but still wanted to drop this one:
No other scene shows Luffy's determination more powerfully than this one imo. Went through the whole Impel Down ordeal, fought his way through the...
No. His arm was already regenerated by then. This happens after the knee strike that gets King out of the way where we can clearly see him jumping in with a fully regenerated arm.
He maintains both a phoenix wing and a human arm here, showing a partial transformation:
Shows phoenix wings and...
The Kizaru kick clearly shows well defined wings just before the strike though and it's even more clear in the Queen/King scene where we see him from the front with the feathers clearly drawn in the inner part of his right wing while maintaining his human left arm.
Will have to double check but am pretty sure Marco has appeared with the phoenix wings but human legs a couple of times in marineford when he kicked Kizaru and Aokiji on top of manifesting just one wing paired with a human arm against King and Queen.
Sounds like partial transformations to me.
Episode was alright.
Pacing wasn't as good as 1115 which is to be expected since there wasn't much material to work with in the chapter being adapted. You can definitely feel the stretching in some places and kinda disappointed that we didn't get an extended fight exchange in the same vein as...
He was able to use G4 in short bursts without any of the drawbacks by the time we got to Onigashima (destroying the ship with Kid and Law, beating the Number and the Snakeman combo attack with Yamato) but was still immobilized after prolonged use.
The same probably goes for G5.
They are not gonna learn in a couple of days what took Luffy a year and a half to get down.
If the other SH's ever get haki it will be an awakening in an extreme situation similar to Usopp. It's too late for just training to do the trick at this point unless Oda really wants to downplay the two...
Fact that the fire threatening to burn down Yggdrasil, the "world tree", might have just been from Luffy and co cooking up some rabbit for lunch is pretty funny.
As much shit as I give Dressrosa for pretty much being the origin of the side character overload that's now bloating the manga, it was probably the last arc that had me genuinely laughing at some of the silly shenanigans thrown around.
Dude's Presbyopia is so severe he can't even see his...
