The reason people downplay Blackbeard is simple! - Most members here didn't even read the pre-TS One Piece. He was already an Emperor before they even seen him. They don't know like anything about him or why he's supposed to be comparable to Luffy. To them, he's just some random guy.

Those beliefs you have about the story are often just biases... Suggesting that Oda has to remember Usopp has Observation Haki is absurd. Suggesting that Oda shifted his pace to be so fast that he will off-panel every Straw Hat potential fight except Luffy's fights is also absurd.
