Because that was always Teach's character, being careless and cocky, taking the first blow and after that bodying his opponent. With the fake invincible opponents it's different, they first seem untouchable and overpowered but at soon as they eat the first blow, their image starts crumbling.

So will we get more info on Candel? Imu referred to her as if she was important, yet she was some background character.
