As I said the scum ability was casted at night, this explains why Reborn had behaved that way since the very start of the day phase. Sera's ability simply didn't work on him because the scum ability on Reborn had been casted in a different phase than the one Sera's ability acted on.

Wonder why he did this so soon, also his ability mentions that he can protect townies not that he can stop a lynch on someone else. So it strikes as an ability that has got more significance during the night in order to avoid 2 townies to be killed instead.
