I never called Whitebeard a coward. I consider this an oversight because Oda didn't want to involve all the Whitebeard Pirates in the battle, but the justification he brought about isn't strong.

The story said he cares about his crew members. It didn't say to disregard anything that was important to them. Thatch was a lost cause. Fighting Teach or not wouldn't bring him back, but Newgate wouldn't budge over a friend Ace made and knowing they come from Oden's home. Remember that Newgate...

I guess that makes sense, but I would like that clarified rather than glossed over. And like I said, Oden cared about his home in general, and Ace met people there that he finds worth helping. It's not like Thatch where killing Teach or not won't bring him back.

I addressed this. The Thatch and Oden situations aren't equivalent. The former was just a revenge quest, the latter he could at least save whatever important to Oden was still there.

It's an oversight. Oda isn't perfect. This doesn't ruin One Piece, however.

Weak. Oden was dead, but the things important to him were still there. In the end, Newgate still went to Marineford risking his crew for a single member. People important to Oden, Izo, Ace were all potentially still alive and he made no such risk.

Comparing this situation with Oden to Thatch is a false equivalence. Toki, the babies all rode on Newgate's ship alongside Oden. Newgate knew Oden had more to lose compared to Thatch. Remember that Newgate is the same guy who cares about his home island and continues to funnel crew savings...

Oden continues to be a bigger and bigger mistake of a character.

So Newgate wasn't willing to help liberate his "little brother's" home, where Oden's friends and family are, where Oden's people are, where Izo's sibling lives? Awful.

Lol, Kaido is a fish. Well, I was wrong about him not having a devil fruit, but this does connect back to the beginning of Wano where we saw Koi fish trying their hand at climbing the waterfall entrance of Wano. Kaido, symbolically, made it to the top and became a dragon. Speaking of, I wonder...
