We do know swordsmanship is Shanks's fighting at its peak (see when his swordsmanship clashed evenly with Whitebeard).

I've been theorizing that Shanks did fight Mihawk after losing his arm, and that's only after becoming Yonko. Mihawk won but was disappointed he couldn't get Shanks at his best (2 arms), making him the WSS by default.
