Character Discussion “Just Wait For The Rocks Flashback Bro! Oda Is Saving Kaido’s True Backstory! Kaido Is Deep Bro!”

Kaido can be enjoyed as who he is, a arc villain, doesnt need to be deep or anything, nothing wrong with liking him
However
People need to stop the cope to asses importance to the character regardless based on like/not liking them

Oda cant be more transparent who he gives a fuck about and who not regardless if its good for the story or not, one of the clearest authors to read
Kaido was never characterized like a character Oda gave a fuck about, like many other characters that exist in the story that have no thought put in backstory/deeper motivations
If Kaido was just a regular arc villain, this would've been perfectly fine. Like Enel or Rob Lucci for example. Top tier arc villains, but not super deep or anything.

Difference is, they came out of nowhere in that arc, and existed as independent characters.

Kaido on the other hand, was the culmination of the entire post timeskip until Wano !!
- Luffy and Law teamed up in start of PH to defeat him. The buildup started right there
- Ceaser clown and Doffy making smiles and giants for Kaido
- Momonuske and Kin'emon getting introduced. With their mission leading to Kaido and Wano
- Kaido being the trumpcard Law wanted to use against Doflamingo, plan to have them fight each other
- Jack (proxy of Kaido) causing the entire Zou arc

This dude defined the entire post timeskip until Wano arc.

And character vise, it wasn't even like he didn't have buildups on his own:
- "Death completes a man"
- "you couldn't be Joyboy either", implying he thought he himself was Joyboy for some reason in the past
- "I am here because it is Wano"
- "you are not to be friends with humans!"
There are more moments hinting at a deeper characterization, but these are off the top of my head at the moment.

Dude had all his setup, plotpoints and characterization abandoned, and culminate into...........3 pages of flashback!!!
Easily top 5 worst writing by Loda. Shameful fraud tier writing.

Kaido at least deserved a Doflamingo tier writing.

Kaido's full flashback will be centered around Kaido being Haralds 3rd son, whom Harald never knew of.

Loki and Kaido will meet before Kaido dies. Since Linlin hasn't had her teen years shown yet, I think Oda will show us Kaido and Linlins childhoods beside each other whenever Teach invades Wano and triggers Fujis eruption to launch them both out. This is also where we'll see big mom and loki meet over lola.

who gaf about kaido character 😂
As long as he’s the standard topic in verse debates and rapes admirals that’s fine with me.

@MonsterKaido also I remember the argument was kaidos feats was gonna get eclipsed by kizaru in egghead and when it wasn’t they switched it too him being a trash character like that changes his power lvl lmao
we want GV feats fuck character development he’s dead :goyea:

Having a Rocks flashback in a flashback supposed to be Harald/Loki, I won't expect much.
Barely any Rocks pirate other than Xebec were being focused in this flashback....
And I'm actually disappointed we didn't even get more insight of Rocks crew.
Not enough interaction, no fights, one panel of Xebec destroying fodder Marines.

More detail Kaido backstory should be post God valley up until he conquer Wano. But there aren't any important thing to uncover, just waste of panels

Gotta disagree boa barely had a backstory in her own Arc too she had like 3 or 4 panels and that's it
Boa has a concise backstory in a 2-volume arc. Her current arrogance is linked to her looks and to her humiliation, of which the tattoo is a reminder. Then we're shown where she got her tattoo, linking her story to the darker sides of the WG and to Fisher Tiger. It works because it's all that's needed to humanize her and to show that she is on Luffy's side against Ace's captors.

Kaido gets an equally-short flashback in 15-volume arc. He was a child soldier and was experimented on by the WG. Neither info tells us anything new on either him nor the world. His relationship with King is kept to a minimum, his time as a Rocks pirate mostly skipped. The flashback is hollow. It doesn't help us change our minds on Kaido, nor to better understand why he became a tyrant.

A short, fast-paced flashback like Boa's would've been fine, if we were given something interesting to work with. Instead, Kaido was given the most basic bitch miserable childhood and that's it, no greater events in the OP lore, no deeper motivation.
